Kernel32 Error

For those running Windows 98, Kernel32 is an extremely important part of how the system runs. Without it, the system often will not run. If the Kernel32 file is corrupted in anyway, errors will occur. The Kernel32 file is responsible for managing memory. It makes sure that no program is able to overtake a specific amount of memory set aside for the system.

What Causes the Kernel32 Error?

Like most other Windows errors, there are a wide variety of causes for a Kernel32 error. Hardware, software, virus and disk space all are known to cause a Kernel 32 error.

Hardware

Kernel32 obviously interacts with the hardware aspect of the PC. Thus, if the hardware is messed up in anyway, or is unable to work with Kernel32, errors will result. Among the most common hardware Kernel32 problems are memory issues. You need to have enough memory to adequately run the computer. If you lack this memory, you'll get errors.

Harddrive problems also can cause the error. If your harddrive is corrupt, it can mess up the entire system.

To solve the Kernel32 error caused by hardware problems, you must determine what is causing it and then make changes accordingly. So if your harddrive is corrupt, you should replace it. If you don't have enough memory, you should install more.

Software

Let's say you're trying to open a particular program and get the Kernel32 error only when opening that program. That's a good indication that the program is the problem, not something else. In this case, you should simply uninstall and reinstall the program to fix things.

Virus

Kernel32-corrupting viruses became a big problem during the 90s and still exist today. A sudden Kernel32 error is typically caused by a virus. Download an anti-virus program and use it to remove the virus. This should stop the error.

Disk Space

Just like memory, you should also have sufficient disk space. If you have less than 200mb of free space, you may encounter the Kernel32 error. Get rid of some unneeded programs to free-up space or put in a bigger harddrive.
