Uninstall Error

With how many different types of software there is available, it's not at all surprising that people often make the incorrect choice when it comes to installing software. After a while, they become dissatisfied with the program for one reason or another and wish to uninstall it. Most software developers make this task easy by including an uninstaller which handles the job. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work, leaving many PC owners, including yourself, wondering how to uninstall the seemingly un-installable program.

Is It Hopeless?

The good news is, even if a program doesn't seem like it can be uninstalled, it can be. It just may take a little more effort than you're expecting. We'll cover a few methods of uninstalling a difficult program.

Method #1: Reinstall

This may seem like a strange suggestion, but it really does work. Chances are, the reason why the program won't uninstall is because the uninstaller is corrupted. If you were to reinstall the program, it should mean that the uninstaller works and is not corrupted. Thus, you'll be able to uninstall the program easily. Of course, this method doesn't always work, but for the most part, it is effective.

Method #2: Manual Labor

When you uninstall via the Add/Remove Programs section of the control panel, it's usually a very automatic process. If you cannot uninstall via Add/Remove, you still may be able to uninstall by going to the program's folder (usually located in C:\Program Files) and clicking the uninstall .exe. This should get rid of the program.

Method #3: Safe Mode

For whatever reason, some programs require a boot into safe mode before they can be safely uninstalled. If you cannot uninstall using the above methods, you can try booting into safe mode (by pressing F8 at the startup screen) and then running the uninstaller. It should work.
